Award winning powerhouse old time fiddler and clawhammer banjo player Janie Rothfield and husband Scottish singer and guitarist Allan Carr have been playing and recording their unique blend of Celtic and Appalachian music for over 40 years! Janie and Allan play roots music that is directly from the source while expanding on that tradition with newly composed songs and tunes. Great singing, hot instrumentals and with Allan’s humor, always a whole lot of fun! Their new duo recording “The Two Of Us”, is getting airplay around the world, and was in the top 30 albums being played on the Folk Alliance International Radio Charts. The CD features their signature fusion of American Old Time and Celtic Songs and Tunes.
Janie and Allan are masters of Old Time Music and have taught at workshops, camps and festivals for over 30 years with their special and effective teaching style and strategies to help you play better and have fun with Old Time Music!

Old Time Fiddle with Janie Rothfield- For intermediate/advanced Fiddlers
Janie will show you the techniques and approaches she uses to add power, drive and rhythm and groove to her fiddling with a focus on the might BOW!She will teach several of her favorite tunes from the playing of Uncle Norm Edmond, Jake Phelps (and a Janie original tune or two) to ramp up your fiddling and take your fiddling to the next level!
Old Time Back Up Guitar with Allan Carr-For Intermediate/Advanced Guitarists
Allan will show you how to add power and rhythm to your back up guitar playing with the addition of bass runs and the use of alternative chords.Allan will show you techniques for how to better accompany a fiddler by focusing on learning the tune and it’s chordal form and listening with intention!
